Coker College Faculty and Guest Artist Dance Concert
February 21, 2019 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm
$5 – $10
The Coker College dance program presents its annual Faculty and Guest Artist Dance Concert. This year’s electric show blends theater, comedy, and video technology with African dance and contemporary styles for a highly entertaining, physical, and thought-provoking performance reflecting themes of society, secrets, womanhood, relationships, competition and miscommunication.
Highlights include a dance theater piece, “Cinderbox 2.0,” by the Chicago-based guest artist company, Lucky Plush Productions, in collaboration with the Coker Theater Program. Additionally, guest artist and Coker alum, Elise Mufuka set an African fusion based piece, “Secrets,” with live drumming, on Coker Repertory Dance Company. Visiting Lecturer Ashlee Taylor presents a new work with live feed projection, while full-time dance faculty Kristin Hapke explores the cyclical nature of relationships and Meredith Sims’ work looks at binary thinking and competitiveness in a sporting event spoof.
