A data walk is an interactive community event where public health officials, local leaders, and residents review large visual posters displaying local health and environmental statistics

How a Data Walk Works

  • Visual Stations: Large posters display county-specific metrics on topics like life expectancy, chronic disease, maternal health, and environmental quality. [1, 2, 3, 4]
  • Guided Discussion: Facilitators and epidemiologists walk groups through the data, explaining what the numbers mean for specific neighborhoods or counties. [1, 2, 3]
  • Community Feedback: Participants share local insights and lived experiences to help explain the statistics. [1]
  • Action Planning: Groups use the findings to identify key local health priorities and guide community health improvement plans
