Built in 1936 as a New Deal project, Center Theater contains 867 seats, almost 200 of which are in the balcony. Initially used as a motion picture theater, the facility was later modified to accommodate performance arts.
Center Theater is a premier performance space in the region, hosting everything from community events and pageants to famous performers.
Center Theater has hosted several famous artists, including Loretta Lynn, Johnny Cash, The Three Stooges, and the Von Trapp Family.
More recently, the theater has welcomed Edwin McCain, the Columbia Ballet’s The Nutcracker, and the sold-out community fundraiser Dancing with The Stars of Darlington Country.
